At Belong School Devon, we will:
- support children to be safe. We understand that some young people require additional support and so will design everything we do to enable;

- enable children to form positive relationships. We believe positive relationships are at the heart of successful lives and therefore will;
- create a sense of belonging for all students
- work with parents and/or carers to enable them to support the child/ren in their care
- emphasise one to one work, where positive relationships are fostered
- emphasise group work in a managed way, encouraging children to integrate and reintegrate at a level and location where they can succeed
- pick the child up from home and drop them back there to encourage contact with parents and/or carers
- provide specialist family and parenting support to strengthen family and home relationships and environments
- focus on the progress and achievement of children. These will be assessed and measured to include:
- evidencing the value we add to a child and their journey through education
- support for parents and/or carers to support their child’s progress
- a focus on literacy and numeracy, but a wider curriculum that is inclusive and encourages a inquisitive, learning mindset
- using assessment tools to record progress on all outcomes whether they be personal, social or academic.
- expecting the best from and for children, including in assessing them accurately, and providing a curriculum that brings the best out in them
- encouraging children to achieve in formal qualifications
- be life changing for children. This will include;
- a varied, inclusive and enjoyable curriculum that inspires children to learn and love learning
- expecting all children to complete GCSE’s, BtEC’s or equivalent qualifications and never settle for second best
- deliver unit awards and entry level courses to enable young people to achieve and see success in the short term and see a pathway to accreditation
- providing effective Career Information, Advice and Guidance to create clear learning pathways and to allow children to successfully move into the next phase of their life.
- linking each child’s circumstances, abilities and ambitions to provide a pathway for them when they leave our support
- supporting all children to develop and grow key life skills so they can thrive and prosper as adults in their society
